The tale of Kyra Joseph is one of legend, having been a strong part of the Santa Cruz music and surf community for years. Luckily for us, Kyra will be the debut disk-jockey to perform at DIO Fest. It felt not only appropriate, but well deserved, given her refined taste for instrumental jams, musical history, and a solid Love for bringing people together to groove through song and dance.
Being affilliated with Raindance and Booty Patrol (an all womens DJ collective in SF), Kyra has a particularly diverse style and a wide range of past bookings. She's shared the stage with a number of national acts, including All Good Funk Alliance, Beats Antique, and Random Rab to name a few. Her sets knock down the fabled sounds of disco, funk, and soul, while eclectically integrating some boogie juice throwbacks.
Kyra is taking over the late night after Jungle Fire, a 10 piece afro/funk band, close out the main stage. This Saturday Night Fever affair is sure to be a booty moover, so break out those vintage jumpsuits and your finest bell bottoms.

Kyra is at the forefront of the now-infamous Booty Movement, which came to life in the early Sunday morning hours of DIO Fest 2017. She's affectionately known as "Pioneer Booty" in select circles, and lives up to the name in prime form. If you have no idea what we're talking about, educate yourself here, before following up here.
Kyra's mojo behind the decks has the distinct flavor of tequila-funk-glitter-punch, mixed from the heart, served with a generous splash independent woman hype, and always with some feelin' yoself garnish on top.
Performing at DIO will be a first for Kyra, as well as for us, and we're beyond stoked to have her.
