Futurebirds, Sky Country & Kelly Koval at Kuumbwa Jazz to Benefit Sobranes Fire Relief

!CRITICAL ANNOUNCEMENT!

Due to the tragic wild fires in Big Sur we have moved the Futurebirds show from Henry Miller Library to the historic Kuumbwa Jazz Center in Santa Cruz, CA. We are adding the amazing Kelly Koval to the bill and will be rallying the DIO family to come out in support of the Sobranes Fire Relief Fund.

PROCEEEDS FROM THE SHOW WILL BENEFIT THE FIRE RELIEF FUND

Kuumbwa Jazz has been so kind as to open their doors to the DIO family on short notice to celebrate the music of Futurebirds, Sky Country and Kelly Koval as we send our prayers to those effected by the fires.

So come out next Saturday night, find something beautiful in it all and raise a few dollars for our friends and family to the south.

It's probable we'll have the likes of Lucas Elmer, Emily Meehan and other DIO family artists there doing rad stuff and making the night even more special. Let's blow this thing up. Your support means the world. On such short notice this show will really go off if we spread the word to all the homies in true DIO fashion.

And the music is going to be seriously crushing. Tell yer friends. Grab tickets here...

Futurebirds || Athens, GA

Six years ain’t a hell of a lot of time, but Futurebirds have filled ‘em with a whole lot of living. Laying down their shoe-gazing country, harmonious psychedelia, and barnstorming, ragged rock both on record and in person, the Athens-based band presents a delicate balance on Hotel Parties, its third full-length record that explores the toils, joys, and struggles exposed by six years doing any one thing so intensely.

Arriving a full two years after the band’s 2013 breakthrough, Baba Yaga, Hotel Parties presents a series of dualities.  Loving something and letting it go. Pining for success and trying to staying true to yourself. The beckoning call of road and the comforts of home. As a result, says singer-guitarist Carter King, the LP represents Futurebirds’ “most concise effort to date all around, like some sort of accidental concept record.”

Over the course of these three LPs, two EPs, and one live record, people have come and gone, yet Futurebirds seem to stay. Some things came out as they liked and some pills have been bitter. Butsometimes, six years just ain’t enough time to tell.

Sky Country || Central Coast, CA ((Big Sur, Carmel, & Pacific Grove))

Sky Country offers up warm, hazy sun soaked rock n’ roll inspired by the coasts and deserts of the western frontier - a genuine California sound born from the lineages of renegade surf culture and ramblers of lost nowhere lands. The songs amble down the bleached highways and byways of windswept americana where guitars can still sound like bones, drums still barrel down the tracks, and poets still wink and grumble at the human heart.

Formed in the spring of 2013, the band reflects the merging of four musical paths. Since then Sky Country have put their noses to the grind stone, playing over 100 shows throughout California. Highlights include opening for Leon Russell, Linda Perhacs, The Entrance Band, The Growlers, The Mattson 2, Night Beats, Mariee Sioux, and the Allah Las. Sky Country’s debut record ‘Pacific Garage’ was self released in summer 2015 and the bands follow up album “Ghost of Jim” was released in the winter of 2016. The band is currently working on their third album and looks forward to a release in the 2016 Fall season.
